Warriors Varsity & JV Win Conference Opener Against Reedsville

On Tuesday August 29th the Ozaukee Volleyball program continued it's improvment from previoous seasons with both Varsity and JV winning their Big East Conference openers against visiting Reedsville. JV Won the match in close sets by the score of 3-0. In the night cap the varsity team won a hard fought match in 5 sets by the scores of 25-23, 20-25, 23-25, 25-12, 15-8.
"It is always nice to kick off the conference season the right way with a 'W'. We did not play to our potential in the first 3 sets, but it is still a step forward for this program to win another hard fought match." The Warriors committed 40 unforced errors on the match. "We let them hang around longer than we should have due to our unforced errors. In order to compete in our next two conference matches we will have to be more consistant on our attack and with our serve. We have put an emphasis in our last couple of practices on offensive efficiancy," said coach Jungbauer. Leading the way for the Warriors was Emma Richards with 9 kills and 2 blocks along with Sr. Setter Caryn Hamm with 17 assists.
Ozaukee will take on perennial powerhouses Manitowoc Lutheran on September 7th at home and will visit defending state champion Howards Grove on the road on September 14th. Ozaukee Currently is on a 4 match win streak and will enter play against Manitowoc Luthern with a record of 1-0 in Big East Conference play and 5-8 overall.
