DBacks lights out in win over Giants

CAIRNS, SK – The Saskatoon Diamondbacks picked up their 5th win in a row, defeating the Giants 3-0 on Tuesday night at Cairns Field. The 15-3 Dbacks, who were held scoreless for the first three innings, finally punched a run through in the top of the fourth on a misplayed fly-ball hit by Graham Forrester. Their next run came in the top of the six and then they had to sit through a 20 minute rain delay before scoring their last run in the top of 7th.

Nolan Machibroda pitched six innings for the Dbacks, and though he bent, did not break allowing 6 hits with 9 K’s and three walks. Ryan Olchoway finished the game allowing 2 hits with 2 K’s. Graham Forrester got the only RBI for the Dbacks offence while Connor Coverett went 2 for 4 and scored 2 runs. Drayson Snell and Tyrone Polson were also 2 for 4 while Nolan Machibroda, who also scored a run, and Ryan Olchoway were both 1 for 3.

The Dbacks will take today off before playing the Cubs and the Red Sox on Thursday night.
